Reason Raspail was a french chemist (he was important in the discovery of microbs), physician, and above all politician. As Republican, he participated at 1830 Revolution (he was wounded), and mainly at 1848 Revolution, when he was (according to Karl Marx) among the firsts to proclaim the Republic. Obviously, he was an opposer to Napoleon III (as Representative, he voted against the Prussian war in 1870), and was exiled and imprisoned many times (even in en:Sainte-Pélagie Prison ) for his political opinions. His name was given to a famous boulevard in Paris. We had cropped versions of this picture, but this one I've restored seems to be the best in scope, because of whole composition, and his very high resolution. Home work, no geocode is needed. -- Jebulon (talk)
