What license should the partnership use?

[edit]

This section is much too simple, and misleading. That the museum may claim a copyright on the photo, even if the work is PD, needs to be explained, and also that WP does not recognise this, based on Bridgeman-Corel etc. Johnbod (talk) 01:30, 25 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Public domain charter

[edit]

Note, would be nice if we can link to http://www.europeana.eu/portal/pd-usage-guide.html somewhere as it provides a good set of accepted guidelines on how to deal with works in the public domain. Multichill (talk) 09:15, 25 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Intended audience

[edit]

This is a really helpful and succinct guide, but it has a split personality. A lot of the first part is aimed at Wikimedians doing outreach to potential partner organisations. The questions section, by contrast, has basic advice for potential partners who know little about Wikimedia. Wouldn't both audiences be better served if there were two documents, a Guide to content partnerships (for cultural organisations) and a Guide to building content partnerships (for Wikimedians)? The first one would not tell the reader to set up a meeting with a potential partner, but assume that the reader has had that meeting and is reading here as a follow-up. The second one would not explain the basics of Wikimedia, but might highlight the misconceptions that cultural institutions sometimes have. Is this a good idea? I'm tempted to do it as a bold move.
