Birth date[edit]
@Vincent Steenberg: another date issue (I had never heard of this painter). nl and fr wikipedia state that he was born in 1671, and so does the Dictionnaire des peintres belges [1]. Bénézit and ULAN say it's 1694. RKD says 1694 but adds "J. Hendrick geboren in 1671". Any further info ? The difference is more or less one generation. --Zolo (talk) 17:34, 11 August 2017 (UTC)
- Sorry, but I have no idea where this date comes from. According to KIK-IRPA he had a son, Jacques Théodore Louis, see http://balat.kikirpa.be/peintres/Detail_notice.php?id=4308, who was born in 1702. So the date of 1671 seems to be the correct one. Maybe this painter was confused with another painter of the same name (see https://rkd.nl/nl/explore/artists/468663), but according to the RKD he was born in 1729, so he might have been a grandson? - Ok thanks, I have added both date to Wikidata, and marked 1694 as "preferred" so that it is the one displayed by default. It's now consistent with Commons.
