Summary
[edit]DescriptionUniversity College, London quadrangle - geograph.org.uk - 727068..jpg |
English: "The Godless Institution in Gower St" It was a London Standard Editorial that first described University College London as The Godless College in Gower Street. This was because the third oldest University Institution in England was the first to accept students who were not members of the Church of England. The insult has been misquoted in a myriad of ways but replacing College with Institution is one of the more common. |
