阿里山 （臺灣）

阿里山は新高の西方から脉々として連り北回歸線に蟠る如く位置してゐる。所謂阿里山材は、海抜二千八百尺から八千七百尺の間にある晝なほ暗き千古の森林から伐出される。その最も珍重せらるゝは扁柏と紅檜、何れも能く蟻害に耐へる。普通直徑二三尺。老大木は二十餘尺、推定樹齡三千年に達するものがある。｜（一九二七、五撮影）（印畫の複製を禁ず）

English: The word "Alishan" first appeared in the 17th century in the De Dagregisters van het Kasteel Zeelandia and was not the name of the area where the indigenous people settlement was located, "Arissangh".
