金州志善堂

金州城内西門の近くの旗倉街に在り。門の聯に「慈善機関地」「衛生道理門」とあるが如く、此の志善堂は一種の慈善機関であると共に酒、阿片嗎啡等を好む者を矯正する処である。宗教上から云へば在理教に属してゐる。在理教の教祖は明万暦進士楊莱如の始むる処にして、儒釈道の三教帰一を説き煙酒を戒む。在理教の内容に就いては秘密結社的な処あり、深く知る事は出来ない。｜写真は志善堂の内陣で、正面に釈迦観音弥勒等を左に揚祖、右に孔子、老子を祀る。在理教の一特色として瓢箪を供へる風あり、其の理由に至つては口を喊して語らないが古来瓢箪と仙人とは関係深く、瓢箪を用ひて、其の中から青竜刀や神針或は蝗や神鷹、駒、神薬等を出した仙術は人口に膾炙する処であれば、必ずや在理教と瓢箪は相当に関係が深いものがあらう。写真の中央の瓢箪は四五十年も磨かれて居るとの事で立派なものである
