Description
English: Church of Saint Nicholas in the town of Great Yarmouth, Norfolk, England. Hatchment of Rev. Samuel Lovick Cooper (1763-1817). He was the 3rd son of Rev. Samuel Cooper (1739/40-1800), of Brooke Hall, about seven miles from Norwich, curate of Great Yarmouth, and rector of Morley and Yelverton, Norfolk (B.A. of Magdalene College, Cambridge, 1760, M.A. 1763, D.D. 1777), who published a large number of sermons, wrote comments on Priestley's letters to Burke on civil and ecclesiastical government. Rev. Samuel Cooper (1739/40-1800) married Maria Sarah Bransby. Rev. Samuel Cooper (1739/40-1800) was a son of Samuel Cooper, "a surgeon of good repute at Norwich" by his wife Mary Lovick. The 4th son of Rev. Samuel Cooper (1739/40-1800) was Sir Astley Paston Cooper, 1st Baronet (1768–1841), surgeon (Dict of Nat Biog [1]). Showing arms of Cooper, with motto of Cooper: Nil magnum nisi bonum (nothing is great unless it is good). The shin/thigh bones were given in 1761 to show the descent from the Newton family, who bore: Sable, two shin-bones in saltire argent. (Burke). Rev. Samuel Lovick Cooper (1763-1817) married Sarah Leman Rede at Great Yarmouth on 29th Nov 1787 and was the father of Sir Astley Paston Cooper, 2nd Baronet (1798–1866), who inherited from his uncle the 1st Baronet by special remainder.
