Summary[edit]

Description
English: 160817-N-WA993-029 YOKOSUKA, Japan Aviation Boatswain’s Mate Airman Joshua Schuster, from Simi Valley, California, lowers the First Navy Jack flag, as Aviation Boatswain’s Mate Airman Taylor Sloan, from Portland, Oregon, catches the flag on the flight deck of the Navy’s only forward-deployed aircraft carrier, USS Ronald Reagan, after the ship gets underway for Board of Inspection and Survey testing. On May 22, 2002, the U.S. Navy ordered the flag to be displayed on all U.S. Navy ships during the global war on terrorism. “We have to make sure the flag never touches the ground, because it’s disrespectful,” said Sloan. Ronald Reagan provides a combat-ready force, which protects and defends the collective maritime interests of the U.S. and its allies and partners in the Indo-Asia-Pacific region.
