NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (Aug. 21, 2017) Fire Controlman 1st Class Clifford Anderson, left, Hospital Corpsman 1st Class William Culp and Boatswain’s Mate 1st Class David Prieto, all chief petty officer (CPO) selectees assigned to the aircraft carrier USS George Washington (CVN 73), sort cabbage during a volunteer event at the Virginia Peninsula Foodbank. CPO Selectees volunteered at the foodbank as part of a community relations project during phase II of CPO 365. George Washington is undergoing a refueling and complex overhaul (RCOH) at Newport News Shipyard. RCOH is a four-year project performed only once during a carrier's 50-year service life that includes refueling of the ship's two nuclear reactors as well as significant repair, upgrades and modernization.
