English: A 1937 Bentley 4 ¼ Litre All-Weather Tourer by Thrupp & Maberly #B39KU at the 2019 Greenwich Concours d'Elegance. Green with Dark Green fenders, one of nine with such bodywork although they did not all have the spare wheels set in the fenders. Its originally belonged to a Captain Charles William Spiers, MP, who kept the car until about 1970. It later went to Carmel, CA, and then to Monty Brown (Seattle), who sold it to another Seattle collector named Wade Carter in August 1995. His family held onto the car after his death, only selling it at the 2016 Bonhams Amelia Island Auction for $173,250. Currently with a Desmond FitzGerald of Greenwich, CT. |
