Summary[edit]

Description

The Type 3 was the 3rd body shape produced by VW, Type 1; the Beetle, Type 2; the Kombi. It was still an air cooled, rear engine, rear wheel drive car. Originally available as a 2 door Notchback, in 1965, the 2 door Fastback and 2 door Squareback (wagon) were introduced.

It was built from 1961-73 with 1500cc engine, in 1970, it got a facelift, the nose was lengthened and engine increased to 1600cc
