Sebring Orange. Built from October 1969-Feb 1972 The LC Torana replaced the HB, bigger now to accommodate a 6 cylinder as well as the 4, and available in 2 or 4 door, in S or SL trim. A sporty 2 door model was available, the GTR with 161 cu in 6 cyl and 2 barrel Stromberg carby (later a 173 cu in) In 1970 the first genuine performance Torana, the GTR XU-1, was developed by Holden along with Harry Firth of the Holden Dealer Team for competition in popular Series Production racing series. It got an 160 bhp 186 cu in 6 cyl engine, fitted with 3 Zenith Stromberg CD-150 carburettors, cast iron headers, a performance cylinder head and camshaft and an Opel 4 spd manual gearbox. This car featured a rear spoiler, guard flutes, wider steel rims, full instrumentation and front disc brakes as standard. In GTR XU1 form, with great power to weight ratio, proved to be a good little race car |
