Description The Escort replaced the Anglia in 1968 and the Mk I was built until 1974 It featured the coke bottle waistline and dog bone shaped grille. Built in England and assembled in Australia and NZ. The Mk I Escort was produced by Ford Australia as a 2 or 4 door saloon and as a 2 door panel van. 1100cc and 1300cc engines were offered, the performance model sold there was this car, the 1558 cc twin cam unit., called the Escort GT 1600, similar to the twin cam sold in the UK.
