[edit]Description1st Maintenance Battalion Marine wins Marine of the Year for 1st MLG 160229-M-QB247-015.jpg |
English: Lance Cpl. Miguel GomezHernandez enlisted in the Marine Corps in August 2014 knowing he wanted to work on communications electronics; so he became a telephone systems computer repairman and was assigned to Repairable Management Company, 1st Maintenance Battalion, 1st Marine Logistics Group. GomezHernandez didn’t find anything appealing in being average, so he took company honor graduate in recruit training and graduated top of his class in Military Occupational Specialty school. As he continued to become a motivated and exceptionally well-rounded Marine, he was recently meritoriously promoted to corporal and also named 1st MLG Marine of the Year. “This is all really humbling,” said GomezHernandez, “This isn’t the end for me though, I still have bigger goals in mind.” GomezHernandez, from Tampa, Fla., says that the inspiration from his Navy JROTC mentor Sgt. Maj. Hall (USMC Ret.) coupled with his wife and family’s continued support keeps him pushing forward in his career. (U.S. Marine Corps photo by Cpl. Carson Gramley/released)
