| Description | Time-lapse view from the U.S. Department of Agriculture Whitten Building of Dave Megerle (dark shirt), checking the rigging setup on the tip of the Washington Monument, on Wednesday, September 28, 2011. The rigging will be used by a four-person team that will rappel down the four sides of the monument and help document damage from the August 23, 2011 5.8-magnitude earthquake and following storm weather. They will also fill cracks with sealant to help protect it from water and ice damage until repairs can be completed. USDA Multimedia by Lance Cheung. |
