32. Rembrandt van Rijn, Selbstbildnis als Apostel Paulus, 1661, Rijksmuseum Amsterdam, Niederlande Selbstbildnis zur Erinnerung Heute reisen wir in die Hauptstadt unseres Nachbarlandes. Amsterdam ist die Heimat der Tulpen, des Gouda-Käses und des Herrn, den Du auf dem Bild siehst. Er war im 17. Jahrhundert der berühmteste Maler der Niederlanden. Er heisst Rembrandt. Heute geben Leute Millionen von Euros aus um eines seiner Bilder zu kaufen. Er selbst aber ist ganz arm gestorben. Auf unserem Bild hat sich Rembrandt selbst gemalt. Das hat er ziemlich oft getan, von Beginn seiner Maler-Karriere an bis zu seinem Tod. Damals gab es keine Fotokamera oder ein Handy, mit dem man schnell ein Foto schießen konnte. In jener Zeit konnte man sich nur malen. 50 verschiedene Verkleidungen Rembrandt hatte eine große Leidenschaft für Verkleidungen. Ihm hätte der rheinische Karneval sicherlich sehr gut gefallen! Er malte sich jeweils in verschiedenen Kostümen. Einmal als Jäger, ein anderes Mal als Edelmann. 50 solcher Portraits sind uns bekannt. Auf unserem Bild hat er sich als Apostel Paulus verkleidet. Paulus war ein Jünger von Jesus Christus und er schrieb viele Briefe. Die kannst Du in der Bibel nachlesen. Die Verkleidung als Apostel Paulus kannst Du an der Papierrolle und seiner Kopfbedeckung erkennen. Die Papierrolle soll die Briefe symbolisieren, die Paulus geschrieben hat. Der Apostel Paulus lebte viele hundert Jahre vor Rembrandt. Rembrandt hat sich also als eine historische Person verkleidet. Welche Verkleidung würdest Du Dir aussuchen? |
