, and his children are given in the will in the follov\ingorder, viz: Daniel, Abraham, Christian, Mark,Barbara and Esther. Jacob Yoder, of New Brittain Township, ismentioned as his son-in-law. From the will, it is shown conclusively thatJohn Fretz, of Lancaster County, Barbara (Fretz)Longenecker, Jacob Fretz and Henry Fretz, whosehistory is recorded in the Fretz history, were nothis children. To the pioneer ancestors we owe a great debtof gratitude for their courage and bravery in main-taining their Christian warfare, for the sake ofwhich they gave up their homes in the Fatherlandand braved the perils of the ocean to seek newhomes in a far-off and strange land, thus bequeath- — 94— ing to us the noble heritage of Christianity, andmaking it possible for us to be born in this greatland of freedom and religious liberty, the bestcountry God ever gave to man, Gods land ofgreatest destiny. May the virtues and piety of the ancestors restupon and abide with us, until time shall be nomore.

The Fourth Fretz Family reunion was to havebeen held on Saturday, Aug. 29, 1903, but as theday proved stormy and only about 100 persons werepresent it was not thought advisable to hold the regu-lar program, and the reunion was postponed untilthe Ioth of September. However, those that cameremained and enjoyed the day. Once within sightof the old homestead, the enthusiasm of thedescendants of John and Christian Fretz was pleas-ing to see. Here on the site where John Fretz laidthe foundation of a remarkable family, nothing butgood will and friendliness prevailed. The old housewas viewed with pleasure. It stands on a hill in themidst of some of the most fertile land in Bucks Co ,with beautiful valleys in front and in the rear.When the first house was built is not known, butin 1820, Deacon Abraham Fretz, grandson of JohnFretz, built the main building of red stone, (nowstanding in a good state of prese
