hroat and part of her breast. A mantle of aneutral brownish-golden tint falls over her left shoulder. Roundher neck she wears a string of pearls, and in her left ear a singlepearl. To the left a mirror, seen from the side, stands on a redtable-cover ; a comb and a ring lie beside it. A bright light fallsfrom above on her face and breast. Half-length figure, life-size. Wood. 28 in. X 24 in. (0.712 X 0.61). Formerly in the Duclos Collection, Paris; subsequently in the SecretanCollection, Paris, and the Sedelmeyer Collection, Paris. Also at one timein Dr. A. Bredius Collection at The Hague; and for some time lent byhim to the Royal Gallery of The Hague (No. 552 in official catalogue). Painted about 1636. Signed midway up the panel on the right/?m. . . .
