Saba, on the site of the Barracksof the 4th battalion or cobort ofRoman policemen ( Vigiles). It origi-nally bore the title of SS. Saha$ etAndreas ad Ctllam Novam, becauseit was the first Hospice which theBasilian Tnonks obtained in Eome.Gregory XIII. gave the Church andits Garden to the German College. Onthe 1., in the portico, is an ancientsarcophagus representing a weddingfeast, and there is some good Cosma-tesque mosaic work round the door-way. A similar fragment may be seenat the altar of the semi-crypt. Atthe high altar are two fine columns ofblack and white granite, flanked bytwo of marmo hianco e nero di Egitio—the latter extremely valuable andrare.
