In the event that retrodisplacement of the uterus is asso-ciated with the cystocele, additional denudation and suturingmay be made by the plan proposed by Emmett. At the cervicalend of the median incision two lateral areas of denudation are ANTERIOR COLPORRHAPHY 137 made which partially surround the cervix. These areas areextended along the antero-lateral vaginal wall at the cervico-vaginal junction in such a manner that when sutured theypocket the cervix and tend to throw it back toward the hollowof the sacrum.
