Summary[edit]
DescriptionA pig trap^ - geograph.org.uk - 1623070.jpg |
English: A pig trap! This is a pig trap which is connected with natural gas industry. The gas, which is on its way to Northern Ireland, has been brought right across Scotland by underground pipe-line. But these pipes need to be cleaned periodically so a pig is inserted.
This isn't a real pig! It is a plastic or metal devise which is driven by the product flow. Pigs are used for various reasons- - cleaning, repairing, inspection, etc. They come in a variety of shapes and sizes depending on their job. And the place where they are inserted into, or removed from the pipe-line, is a pig trap. |
