I refer to the curvature due to weakness of groups ofspinal muscles. The recognition of lateral or anteriorcurvature leads to the adoption of lines of treatment which otherwisewould not be followed, but without which weak muscles, improper aerationof the blood, and sluggish circulation would persist. Pain in the distri-bution of nerves or at their termination is often due to spinal cariespressing on them as they pass through the foramina. The most notableis the pain about the umbilicus due to Potts disease in children. The bones and cartilages connected with the thorax will be consideredunder Diseases of the Lungs. Nodules or Nodes.
