English: Abergavenny - plaque on the Gunter House. The Gunter House is in Cross Street. This plaque is on the wall. In the 17C, secret Catholic services were illegally held in this house. The owner, Thomas Gunter J.P., hid two priests, David Lewis and Philip Evans, who were caught and subsequently executed. See 498723 |
