Summary[edit]

Description
English: Alloway railway station (site), Ayrshire
Opened in 1906 by the Maidens & Dunure Light Railway, which was part of the Glasgow & South Western Railway, on the loop line from Ayr to Girvan via Turnberry, this station closed to passengers in 1930. It reopened briefly for a year in 1931-32 but then closed permanently. View east towards Ayr from the end of the island platform. The cutting was wider than now so appears to have been partly filled in at the sides. In addition, Broun Drive has been built across the top of the site, removing the open feel that it used to have. The track-bed is now a path.
