They imply grounds of some- what large extent, for they are ob- viously only adapted to sequestrated por- tions of the grounds, and, in most cases, are closely veiled within trees and luxuriant growths of shrubbery. And surely what can be more delightful than an early morning dip and swim in a cleanly kept pool be- neath the shade of some grand old trees and in a spot seemingly remote from human habita- tions, and yet so near as to be but a short walk out from the house? It is no wonder that such acces- sories are high in favor with the own- ers of large estates, nor is it strange that the swimming- pool has come to be regarded as, if not absolutely essential, at least highly desir- able. So it has come to take its place with the tennis-court and other places set apart for outdoor sports, and yields to none of them in the pleasure it gives. Like everything
