Captain DAuberville, of the American ship Chieftain, put into Gibraltar, to make good somedamage done to his ship. Accompanied by someof his passengers, he crossed the Straits ofGibraltar to Mount Abyla, for the sake of shoot-ing wild fowl. A breeze overtook them; it wasrequisite to ballast the boat ere they could return.One of the seamen took up what he thought a 40 THE TALE OF A KEG. * piece of rock, which proved to he a keg, madeof cedai-, covered with harnacles and marineanimalculae.
