Animal Castration 41 is made likewise. These incisions should be parallel to each other, three-fourths inch on each side of the raphe or "median line" and parallel to it. The object of drawing the scrotum upwards is to form a cavity between the skin and subcutaneous connective tissue of scrotum above and the scrotal plesus of veins below. This cavity or space protects the scrotal plexus of veins from being knicked by point of the knife while the incisions are being made. Release hold on sheath and grasp each testicle in turn and with a knick of the knife open the tunica vaginalis and allow the testicles to escape.
