THE GREAT KINO OF POTATOES, Wonderful GREEN MOUNTAIN The Greatest Yield Ever Known for Any Potato is Recorded for the Green Mountain, at the JRate of 1,391% BUSHELS per Acre. This Potato has had the Greatest Sale of any of Our Introduction, yet there are Neighborhoods where they are "Unknown. Notice the Low Price. This is the Year to Buy Them. To Secure this Potato for Our Customers, WE PAID $300 FOR 1% BARREL, the Entire Original Stock.! This wonderful medium late potato was originated in "Vermont. It is an extraordinary and exceedingly val- uable variety. Its handsome form, white skin and large size recommend it everywhere. The flesh is white and fine grained, cooks dry and mealy, and is of superior flavor. This is the case when first dug, and they retain their good cooking qualities and keep sound and perfect until the new crop comes again. As a variety to keep for late spring use it has no superior. Vines grow vigorously, foliage deep green, tubers compactly in the hill, which is com- pletely crowded with fine, large potatoes. They ripen in August if planted in April, and in the important matter of productiveness they are perfectly marvelous. This quality combined, as it is, with fine appear- ance and good table qualities, makes the Green Mountain one of the most valuable varieties in the country. Read the reports from the Rural New Yorker experimental grounds: Green Mountain Potato was planted April 7 and the c op harvested August 27, the variety being, there- fore, a late intermediate. Tney were dug under the supervision of E. Williams, Secretary of the New Jersey Horticultural Society, and Charles L. Jones, of Newark, N. J., who, with the editor of the Rural New Yorker, weigh- . ed and estimated the yield, which was at the rate Of J ,3»1 >s BU. PER ACHE. There was an averege of 11 2-5 M/ .":=== to the hill and an M' average of 5H lbs. &£. ' fe. to the hill. yield of potatoes ever raised on these experimen- tal grounds. E. S. Carman, Editor. >\ Also, from a letter from the editor of the Rural New Yorker^ under date of December 6, we quote: "Of all the pota- toes we have ever tested, this Green IJIountain yields the most. It is an immense yielder." Agaiin Mr. Carman wrote us, under*! date of October 17, aftew trying them the second yearra "The Green Mountain Po-J tato surprises me. They yield well, con- sidering the dea-1 perately bad sea- son. They were the best of any (there were f j of the best va- ! rieties he^ could seleoi| from all over; the country)] in the half; acre poor soil' plot, andi yielded at the rate of 280j bushelsper acre. Thiir yield is, for a horrible sea-, son (the worsts we have had for years') a very fine one." Had the sea-, son been at all favorable we would have DOIBLEO the yield ea*> - ily." It should be remembered that the soil on which the potatoes were grown was very poor. The Green Mountain Potato is positively one of the best things we> offer in ourvcata- logue, and we guar- antee them to not only, give entire satisfaction, but they will surprise' potato growers by their great yield and fine qualities. We know if we were able to con- vince each person who receives this catalogue of their real merits, not thei least exaggerated, that the demand .would be so great" that it would be impossible j to supply it. You will not beJ disappointed in this potato.] Testimonials. ™hgj] of them praising the fine qualities of this grand potato, but no space.} to print them. If you want further evidence, send for them., aution. n YOU HAVE . NEVER GROWN THE GREEN MOUNTAIN POTATO YOU HAVE LOSJ MUCH HONEY. DON'T PUT IT OFF ANOTHER SEASON. AS GOOD NOW AS tVER. (62) To our know- ledge certain^ unscrupulous parties have sold other inferior varieties < of potatoes for Green Moun- tain, thus defaming their fair;' name, and justly great reputa- tion. We caution all parties to,, buy where they will get the genuine article, and thus avoid disap- pointment.
