Ykllow Spanish—Fruiting Branch in 38 FRUIT EXPERIMENT STATIONS OF ONTARIO. Yellow Spanlsh. Of all the Bigarreau cherries this is one of the finest, both on account of its great size andits delicious flavor. The tree grows to a very large size, surpassing in this respect any othercultivated variety with which we are acquainted. It does not average very productive, becausethe fruit often blasts and drops, or is destroyed by Monilia. When, however, it does mature agood crop, as in 189G, the yield is wonderful; indeed in 1890 one tree at Maplehurst yielded360 quarts of beautiful fruits ! This of course was an exceptional yield, (See engraving offruiting branch. The variety is of European origin, and was introduced into the United States in 1800.
