t la terrace interieure eft beau-coup plus elevee que le terrein fur le quel le Chateau eft bati; ce qui dans ce tems doiten avoir rendu lattaque bien difficile, pour ne pas dire impraticable. Un pont depierre bati fur le foffe et du cote oriental fait lentree du Chateau, il conduit a uneporte a deux arches, batie dans la terrace interieure, fur la quelle il paroit quily a eu une muraille flanquee de tours placees a certaines diftances. De cette terraceet des apartemens fuperieurs du Chateau on jouit dune vue tres agreable, qui versle nord setend au deffus de Babingley et de Wolverton, et fe termine par la mer ;a loueft la vue setend encore plus au loin au de la de North et de South Wootton,par deffus le Wafh jufqua Bofton, et le long de la cote du Comte de Lincoln. On voit dans la Gravure la Facade et lEntree la plus ornee de cet ancien edifice;cette partie en ocupe le cote oriental, et fe trouve vis-a-vis de la porte dentree quiconduit au lieu fur le quel le Chateau eft bati. nxxxmm
