A visit to the Mission, some four milessouth-west of the city, would interestthe stranger. Two or three lines ofomnibuses are running over the fineplank road to the latter place; the racecourse, and many fine gardens, are inthe vicinity. Also the Orphan Asylum,a fine institution. A half-hourly line of omnibuses alsoruns to the Presidio, which is situatedsome three miles toward the GoldenGate ; a walk or ride to Fort Point andPoint Lobos, passing on to the SealRock House, and Ocean House, affordsmany fine scenes of the entrance to theBay and of the sea shore. The view of the Bay from TelegraphHill is also very fine, embracing thecity, with the distant contra coast range. The view of the city from Rincon Pointis, perhaps, the best, certainly the mostpicturesque. Daily lines of stages leave the city
