HUTEL iMi-ALPlN, NEW YORK approach the street. This plan of construction provides not only foroutside rooms throughout, but also affords this important feature inthe minimum amount of space. Some such plan was a necessity in the case of the McAlpin, becauseBroadway cuts diagonally across one side of its plot. As shown in thejihotograph, the wing in the foreground is rectangulai in shape, whereasthe other two are slightly angled.
