Very fascinating are the handmade wares which they vend, varyinggreatly in different localities. The mendress much in white with soft, wide spread-ing sombreros and bare feet or sandals.Their faded serapes, worn with carelessgrace and dignity, give outward color andinward warmth. Women are fond of black,especially in the mantilla or universal headdress, but this color is also employed inhonor of departed relatives. Both sexescarry astounding loads of picturesquewares with greatest ease, even on a run.Those in better circumstances own burros.Children are numerous, eager, brown-eyed,barelegged, healthful and happy.
