LÖNNBERG, ANATOMY OF INDIAN TAPIR. 7 are large. The right measures in dorsiventral direction about 280 mm. and its greatest width which is nearer the dorsal margin is about 200 mm. The left has a dorsiventral exten- sion of about 275 mm. and a width of 225 mm. The central lobes are when measured on the anterior (diaphragmatic) side about 134^ cm. broad both taken together. The umbihcal fissure at Ugamentum falciforme is rather deep about 5 cm. But there are on the right central lobe three more fissures which, however, have coalesced so that the four lobules of the right central lobe formed by these fissures have joined again. Liver of an Indian Tapir, visceral surface. falciform with a length of 161^ cm. and a width at the middle of 6 cm. Dorsally of porta hepatis there is also a Spigelian lobe, the whole extension of which is about 10; cm. It has a thin but broadly rounded processus papillaris, and towards the right side it has a short free end. The situation of these different parts is elucidated by the figure (fig. 4). If the figure and description above is compared with Murie's figure and description it will be seen that the spe- cimen on which the latter has been founded has had its right central lobe somewhat more subdivided in the margin than the present specimen.
