English: Ashleigh Barton The "late 15th century and 17th century farmhouse" (http://www.devon.gov.uk/localstudies/110423/1.html ) is seen from Allern Lane, close to its junction with Ashleigh Lane. Slightly at variance is this account: http://www.devon.gov.uk/index/transport/public_rights_of_way/where_to_walk_and_ride/daywalks/walk57.htm : "The farmhouse is of 16th century origin, although the first record of a farm here dates to 1244. Behind the farm is the probable site of a deserted medieval village". |
