Description
English: Relief shown by contours, shading, and hachures on some maps. "This volume will contain over seven hundred maps, showing all the battle-fields from 1861-to 1865." "Entered according to Act of Congress in the year 1892, by J.A. Caldwell, in the office of the Librarian of Congress, at Washington." This atlas comprises the first 40 plates of the U.S. War Department's Atlas to Accompany the Official Records of the Union and Confederate Armies, 1891-5. (Entry no. 99). Listed in C. E. Le Gear's A List of Geographical Atlases in the Library of Congress (Washington, Library of Congress, 1973), v. 7, no. 10683. LC Civil War Maps (2nd ed.), 98 Phillips, 1349 Description derived from published bibliography. LC copy imperfect: Torn at some sheet edges. Includes index. Available also through the Library of Congress web site as raster image.
