Sasanian king Bahram II’s second relief at Barm-e Dilak, Said “Barm-e Dilak II rock relief”. This scene shows king Bahram II (left side) and probably a courtier face to face, paying each other a respect gesture. The signification of this relief is very unclear, as in sasanian imaging, the king is not supposed to pay respect to anyone, or may be Ahuramazda. The right figure can’t be taken as Ahuramazda, because armed with a sword. Yet, possibilities exist for another king, wearing the Korymbos (veiled spherical haircut above the head), despite the lack of visible crown. Yet, the relief seems unfinished, as a large central part is not carved or has been damaged by later sismic activity (see the breach). A similar representation of Bahram alone can be seen at Guyum, north of Shiraz. Like almost Iranian rock reliefs, this one is located near the water: a now dryed pool can be seen below, while a river still flows a few meters away.
