English: Bale Bank Farm The house is certainly occupied, but one wonders if this is still a working farm. The surrounding land is poor quality and there are just a few sheep scattered about. The name 'Bale Bank' refers to the ancient method of smelting lead on open fires or bales [bailes], of which there are several examples nearby. |
