This pic-nic resort, by the way, is well worth visiting.It has splendid accommodations for a largenumber of people, a beautiful setting andplenty of amusement facilities for old andyoung. The Mount Clare and Cumberland bandslent a musical atmosphere to the occasion withfrequent renditions of popular songs andmarches. The Mount Clare quartet also didyeoman service and was greatly enjoyed.And if the commissary arrangements at thepark were not quite adequate for the promptcare of all of the hungry excursionists, the daywas so beautiful and there was so much elseto do besides eat that nobody grumbled. The formal part of the program was inau-gurated by a march from the lower end of thepark to the hill circle and its wonderful groveof old trees. The band led ofT, followed bythe officers and members of the associationand their friends, and the accompanying pic-ture is the result of the grouping of the merry-makers. 39

THE BALTIMORE AND OHIO EMPLOYES MAGAZINE 41 Again led by the band the members of theassociation moved over to the old historictree, standing on the spot of the headquartersof George Washington and Lafayette, whereGeorge W. Sturmer, Grand President, con-ducted the ceremony of presenting solid goldmedals to the past presidents of the Baltimoreassociation. E. L. McCahan, the first President duringthe term 1913-14, and who was in the serviceof the Railroad fifty-two years, died severalyears ago, and in his memory, at the requestof the presiding officer, all present uncoveredand for one minute paid him a silent tribute. Mr. Sturmer then presented medals to W.T. Holmes, forty-nine years in the serviceand President of the Veterans, 1914-15; GeorgeW. Galloway, President 1915-16, forty-one yearsin the service and first cousin of federal managerC. W. Galloway; J. O. F.
