Six Thrift Stamps will buy five pairs of woolen socks, three pairs of summer drawers, or three summer undershirts.Twelve Thrift Stamps will buy a steel helmet.

Ball Secretary to Superintendent Relief Department S— AMUEL RUSSELL BARR, super-intendent of the Relief Depart-Ipga ment, died at Baltimore, Md., onMarch 6, 1918, from injuriessustained when he was struck by anautomobile on March 3, 1918. He wasseventy-two years old, having been bornat Washington, D. C, on July 26,1846. Although familiarly and universallyknown as Doctor Barr, he was not agraduate of a medical school; the titlewas unconsciously, and against his wishes,acquired through his long supervision of,and association with, the medical menconnected with the railroad company. Mr. Barr entered the service of theBaltimore and Ohio Railroad Companyon April 27, 1880, and for a period ofthirty-eight years, up to the day preced-ing that upon which he sustained thefatal injuries, he was an indefatigable,interested and loyal servant of the cor-poration, and for thirty-four years wasthe active, directing executive of
