English: Banking loco at Peak Forest, near to Peak Dale, Derbyshire, Great Britain.
In those days some heavy stone trains required a shove up the hill. A light locomotive known as a banker was used to push the train up the steepest part of the incline. Here the engine is seen waiting at Peak Forest for the next freight requiring a push. |
