Betterhabits of hygiene and sanitation are certainly beingformed. INDUSTRIAL ACTIVITIES There have been notable achievements along in-dustrial lines. In barrios where hat making is taughtin the schools, the boys may be seen wearing hatsthat they themselves made, thus acquiring self-relianceand bringing about economy in the family purse. Afew homes are better equipped because of skill ac-quired by boys enrolled in bamboo and rattan furnitureclasses. The fact that barrio children are wearingrompers and one-piece dresses is in most cases due toinstruction in plain sewing. The schools have donea good deal to instill among the people a deeper senseof the dignity of labor. In Meyto, Calumpit, thebarrio that won first place in the 1916 barrio efficiencycontest, parents encourage pupils in their industrialwork. (4)
