Summary[edit]
DescriptionBath Green Park - geograph.org.uk - 981522.jpg |
English: Bath Green Park Bath's 'other' station, with this handsome frontage, was opened in 1870. It formed the terminus for two separate routes: a Midland Railway branch from Mangotsfield and the much-loved Somerset and Dorset running over the Mendips and down to the coast at Bournemouth. It handled long-distance services too, notably the Pines Express, a daily through train between Manchester and Bournemouth - such services were required to reverse here. The end came in 1966 after which the station was allowed to deteriorate until it was restored between 1981 and 1982. The building now houses the Green Park Brasserie and Bar. |
