PEOPLE ARE LISTENING IN Receivers bring the demonstration long distance calls to listeners on the ground floor, while visitors on the balcony watch the progress of the calls across the great map and even those on the escalator try not to miss anything expressive of the wide scope of theSystems undertakings. Visitors tookaway with them an impression of thecourteous treatment which is repre-sentative of the attitude of telephonepeople everywhere toward the public.Not least valuable to the Systemwas the knowledge of the speed, ex-tent, clarity, and convenience of ourlong distance service gained at firsthand by the 30,000 who made dem-onstration calls—and the equal num-ber who received them—and by the1,500,000 listeners who partook vi-cariously of the same experience.
