Figure 4 is a pho-tograph of ice and frost on a ruraltelephone line not far from Seattle.Measurements at this point showedthe wire to be encased with ice to adiameter of %-inch with a frost de-posit overlaying the ice—the total di-ameter of wire, ice, and frost being7 inches.
