Many left to getmarried, while others resigned be-cause of some domestic situation.Moving to a different town is a com-mon cause of resignation, and if thereare no vacancies in the new commu- nity at the time, the employee is lostto the telephone business. Systematic procedures have nowbeen established for communicatingwith qualified former employees andoffering employment to those whowish to resume their work. Manyformer employees, it is found, are notaware of the companys current em-ployment needs, and welcome an oc-casional call from Mother Bell. Aserious endeavor is made to arrangefor part-time work, in cases wherethis fits better into home conditionsthan a full-time job. Recruiting Through PresentEmployees Of all the methods used by thetelephone companies to obtain newemployees, the best by far is the planof recruiting through those alreadyon the force. I
