Summary[edit]

Description
English: Beth's Arch, Bilston, Wolverhampton This eye-catching sculpture should be viewed from a variety of directions in order to fully appreciate its visual strength. Here it is seen from the north-west. The drill tower at Bilston Fire Station is behind and left of the sculpture.

Beth's Arch is an eight metre tall sculpture of painted fabricated steel on the Black Country Route roundabout near the site of the former Bilston Steel Works. The structure, made in 1995-1996 by Sarah Tombs, represents two figures emerging from the flames of industry linking arms to form an arch and is named Beth’s Arch after ‘Elizabeth’, one of the blast furnaces at the old steelworks at nearby Springvale.

There are nineteen Black Country Route sculptures by nineteen different artists. These varied works reflect both the area’s heritage and its promise

for the future.
