Text Appearing Before Image:
nSocieties in the schools of Hemlock, Ohio. The facts of the case are these: A youngman named John Bieseman, interested inbird-protection, secured from the office ofthe National Association some of the clothwarning notices regarding the protection ofbirds, which were distributed during thewar. He tacked these to trees and fencesn and around Hemlock, where they mightbe seen by the public. Another boy, whosename will not be given, the leader of asmall gang, while afield on one of his many trips with a gun, slashed the sign with hisknife and then nailed to it a Golden-Crowned Kinglet and the wings and tail ofa Brown Thrasher, which he shot in theimmediate vicinity. Both of these birdshave a pronounced economic value andwere among the wild animal assets of thatsection. Both birds are protected by thestate laws of Ohio and by the UnitedStates law. The case was reported to boththe state and Federal officials, but so faras has been learned no successful actionhas been taken by either of them.
