r teachers have made thelot of our common birds their dailystudy and delight. In the oldest kin-dergarten in the city the window sillsare raised and the birds food scatteredupon a level with the glass, so thatevery action of the little creatures canbe watched with ease by the childrenwithin. In numbers of homes and in many ofour business offices the daily needs ofour little feathered brothers arethoughtfully cared for. Let this feeling grow and this inter-est deepen in the hearts of Denverites, especially in the childrens hearts. The foodconsists of fish, mollusks, snails, andfresh water insects whfch are obtainedby diving as well as by gleaning. The winter range of this fish duckis largely determined by the extent ofopen water on our lakes and streams. Thus it is regularly found in Minnesotawherever there is o
