English: Bishop's Palace moat and boundary wall - Wells The southern corner tower of the Bishop's Palace is joined here by the southwest and southeast boundary walls. In all, it has four corner towers linked by boundary walls, and a gatehouse entrance to the Palace complete with drawbridge. The whole is surrounded by a moat. It dates from the C14 when Bishop Ralph was granted a licence to crenellate. Grade I Listed. |
